The deeper truth about denying oneself beyond rid of material things. You can sell your TV to avoid all the sounds and erotic images, and bring all appetites under control and still have refused to yourself. What Jesus is asking, is a kind of devotion to himself cast out of the heart that all that prevents a deep union with Christ. It is a commitment to become nothing before God and men. It is able to say with Paul, "I no longer live - it is Christ living in me. . " The world has lost its charm for us. We must die to all personal ambition - to all attachments to earthly things, until we can honestly say, "I am dead to this world and all it represents. I no longer live. . " Physically alive, yes! But I must die to everything that hinders my vision and love body pillow for Christ. Whatever it is - must go. Lust? Own plans? Bitterness, hatred? Recognition, self-esteem? I die to all this. I bring everything to the cross and run their own views. Why Christians are about to die are separated from both the world and the physical and material things? Is it because eternity is in sight.
